Sacred Codes of the Enchanted Isle
Sacred Codes of the Enchanted Isle
Sacred Codes of the Enchanted Isle is a series of textile installations inspired by the intrinsic connection between Taiwanese folk beliefs and the island itself, where daily life and mythology coexist symbiotically. Drawing elements from the island's natural landscapes, cultural heritage, and temple traditions, while engaging in the process of intuitive free-form coiling, I explore and materialise how my home island's sacred and mythical archetypes, nurtured by the passage of time, coexist deep within me. The interconnectedness, manifested through textiles, gives rise to unique symbolic forms that reflect the artist’s personal communion with her homeland.
Utilising materials such as sequins and mirrors, the series not only features mystical and self-reflective qualities but also seeks to interact with the flowing light and shadow of the surrounding environment. It invites the viewer to explore a space for self-discovery and imagination within the work.
The series was sponsored by and exhibited at the Oriental Club Lounge inside the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport in 2025.
